Fishing Area
Majorca as well as the other Balearic islands, has rocky bottoms rich in fauna and flora, very interesting for fishing. One of the best examples is the archipelago of Cabrera, declared as a National Park, and has a major natural value. Throughout history it has been isolated from human contact and its coast and marine bottoms have been unaltered to the present time.
In the rocky bottoms live groupers, scorpion fish, red scorpion fish, congers and morays. Other common species are sea bass, guilthead and dentex.
On the southeast of Majorca, it’s only 6 miles to be offshore. This means that in 20 minutes you can be fishing on high seas.
The trolling and deep sea fishing season starts in May; this is when we start catching species like blue fin tuna, albacore, swordfish, shortbill spearfish and dolphin-fish. The blue fin tuna pass through the channel of Ibiza, go through the Gulf of Valencia, passing by the Delta del Ebro to spawn near the Balearic Islands, the gulf of Leon and other areas. During the months of May to August, the albacore make their way north on the south side of the Balearic Islands. In May and June good areas are the so-called “S” and the “Torre”, situated on the south of Majorca. In June and July the albacores move more towards the southeast side of the isle, to zones such as “Ses Mamelles”. End of July and August they are found much closer to Menorca.
August and September are good months for fishing giant blue fin tuna and giant swordfish up to 300kg. Chumming is usually done and the best areas are between Majorca and Ibiza, north of Cabo Formentera and also in an area located on the East of Porto Colom and Porto Cristo.
When autumn arrives, it is possible to practice light trolling and spinning , to fish small tuna and dolphin-fish (between 1-10kg)
The rest of the year you can practice jigging and specially bottom fishing.
Bottom fishing you can catch grouper, scorpion fish, red scorpion fish, conger...

Access to the Fishing Area
You can travel to the Balearic Islands by boat or aeroplane. There are daily flights from Europe and U.S. to the international Airport of Palma de Mallorca. If you want to bring your car, you may take the ferry from Barcelona, Denia or Valencia.
Boat and Captain
Miguel Serra, propietario de la empresa y patrón del barco, cuenta con muchos años de experiencia en la pesca de altura y navegación, por supuesto cuenta con titilación profesional (patrón mayor de cabotaje) así como todos los cursos de especialización que se requieren (superviviencia, contra incendios, radiotelefonista, cartilla sanitaria, etc).
El barco, que lleva como nombre Foramando, cuenta con los seguros y licencias administrativas y de pesca pertinentes para poder desarrollar su actividad con toda seguridad y normalidad. Los dos motores Yanmar de 315HP cada uno permiten mantener una velocidad crucero de 27 nudos.
La equitación confort del barco consiste de: baño, ducha, nevera para bebidas y almuerzos, mesa en cubierta, Toldos de verano y de invierno, cabina y camarote, molinete anclas.
La electrónica del Foramando cuenta con GPS, sonda, plotter, piloto automático, VHF, VHF portátil, Radar, Compás y Corredera.
El barco dispone de la licencia colectiva así como de la licencia especial para la pesca de túnidos (Anexo III). Todas las capturas están sujetas a la normativa de pesca vigente en nuestra comunidad tanto en numero de capturas como en su tamaño debiéndose respetar dichas normas, promoviendo por parte del patrón la captura y suelta.
