Fishing Area

We usually don't pay much attention to the fact that in Europe we have one of the best fishing places in the world: The Canary Islands. Situated at a 4-hour flight, the Canary Islands are famous for their subtropical waters with plenty of sport fishing possibilities. They attract anglers from all around the world to practice big game fishing, jigging and spinning around these beautiful Islands.

Situated on a marine bottom with over 3000 meters of depth, the Canary Islands are constantly nourished by the currents of the Atlantic Ocean. There are plenty of off shore seamounts that rise thousands of meters form the ocean floor and stop short of the surface. The marine nutritional chain is formed by its huge variety and quantity of species of sedentary and migratory fish, sharks and cetaceans.

The Canaries are a privileged place for big game fishing. The Blue Marlin, the king of the ocean, visits the islands from June to September chasing the huge supply of pelagic baitfish such as mackerel, tuna and bonito. During the high season, several blue marlin up to an estimated 500 pounds are released every week. The bigger billfish can weigh up to 1100 pounds in these waters!
Blue fin tuna, yellow fin tuna, wahoo and dolphin fish are few of many species that can be captured in the Canary Islands.

The archipielago is also a paradise for jigging and spinning. The mixed bottoms with sand or other rocky zones give shelter to fascinating species, such as the Moroccan dentex, the amberjack and the grouper, among others.

Access to the Fishing Area

The Canaries have international Airports with scheduled flights from the U.S. and from Europe via Ibera, Lufthansa, British Airways, etc. The connections are made through Madrid, London, Düsseldorf or Frankfurt.

Boat and Captain

On board there is top of the line fishing tackle and there’s fishing gear for all types of fishing. There are complete sets of 80lb, 50lb, 30lb and 20lb. The rods are custom made (Pat Brian, Texas; USA) and all the reels are Shimano Tiagra. There are also two jigging sets with Shimano Stella 20 000 reels. For big game fishing Pedro uses Sufix Ultra Supreme line of 130lb and a 650lb to 700lb leader.

Capt. Randy, who speaks fluent English, has been a fishing guide for many years. His boat is in perfect shape and the engines don’t even have one stain of oil nor oxide.

Equipment

This great fishing boat, of the brand Rodman, is in an excellent condition and is driven by two Volvo Penta engines of 375 HP. With its length of 12.50 meters long and 4.25 meters wide, equipped with high tech instruments (radar-GPS-autopilot-two VHF radios) and the newest equipment. This boat is most appropriate for big game fishing. The boat is equipped for big game fishing with a fighting chair and 2 outriggers.

This charter has the capacity to carry 12 people, crew included. It has a large walk around and you have a beautiful view over the Ocean from the flybridge. You are able to spot dolphins, turtles, bonitos, tuna and marlin. You can take advantage of the large cabin with its belongings ( table, kitchen, refrigerator, toilet ).
