Ebro Delta Fishing Charter, L'Ampolla, Spain

The Delta del Ebro is one of the best places to fish along the Catalan Coast, not to mention, the Spanish Mediterranean. The rich waters of the River Ebro empty into the Mediterranean, bringing food for all types of fish, birds, and mammals alike. There are many fishermen that are willing to drive hours on the highway to come fishing here to “get away.”

High up on the food chain we find the large predators that are so fascinating to us, the bluefish, amberjack, leerfish, and the sea bass, among others. During the winter months is usually when we stop fishing the salt waters and change to fishing the rivers. On a boat, we can start from the mouth of the Ebro River to the ‘Xerta’. Spinning, we catch zander and catfish, although sometimes we catch some black bass or some sea bass.

The months of April and May are a time of transition: the water starts heating up and large amounts of water run down the Ebro River from the Pyrenees. This is when you can catch garfish, pageles, saddled sea bream, gilthead, sea bass; and in the river you still catch catfish and zander. During the month of June, fish become more active and we begin to catch bluefish, leerfish, dentex, barracuda (sea pike) and gilthead.

The next months are the best for fishing on the Delta de Ebro: July, August, and September. You can see seagulls everywhere and there is a lot of activity in the water. A part from the above mentioned predators, there are also Atlantic bonitos and dolphinfish. These are also the most interesting months to catch sea bass in the river.
With the arrival of the cold in autumn and winter, the sea becomes less active until slowly the cycle starts again, beginning with March...

L'Ampolla has easy access from the AP7 (exit number 39A). By high speed train, AVE, you arrive at Camp de Tarragona and then rent a car. The nearest airports are Barcelona, Reus and Castellon.

The Delta Fishing Club highly promotes fishing with lightweight equipment (10 to 15 lb) to enjoy 100% of each hit. Julien has a wide selection of rods and reels (Shimano and Daiwa). For the spinning and trolling he uses for example the Stella 5000. He also has heavier equipment if the customer wishes (50lbs).

El Servicio en Delta Fishing Club se escribe con mayúscula. Julien recibe sus clientes en su casa delante del mar con un desayuno a gusto del consumidor: café, zumo, croissants, huevos fritos con bacon, embutidos... lo que haga falta. Después, se sale a pescar desde la misma playa. A bordo lleva el aperitivo, la comida, las bebidas, etc... Como se pesca todo el dia, existe la opción de pescar por la mañana, volver al campo base para comer y echar una siesta, para volver al ataque por la tarde.

Al final de la jornada, el guía no tiene ningún problema en encender la barbacoa y preparar uno de los peces que se hayan podido pescar para la cena. Julien está realmente a disposición del cliente desde que llega hasta que se marcha.
