Summer is getting closer and we're catching mediterranean species like barracuda, blue fish, leerfish, oblada and horse-mackerel now.
Last wednesday, our irish clients went fishing with Miguel and had a fantastic fishing trip with the Garrote in Cambrils. The caught over 40 horse-mackerel in only 4 hours.
Capt. Julien is catching quite a lot of obladas, barracudas and blue fish casting in the Ebro Delta. Last week, he also caught two awesome leerfish with a popper. On the river Ebro, he's also catching sea bass with top water lures. Here's a nice video from him where you can see how a client is fighting with a huge barracuda of about 10kg, he estimated. All of a sudden he looses the fish, but when he's reeling in his lure, he catches a small dentex right under the boat!
Our friends from Delta Game Fishing are having good sessions trolling along the Ebro Delta. The picture above is from a very nice leerfish caught last week with life bait (small barracuda).
Our fishing charters near Barcelona catch the same species. Every time fishing Kurt-Jaime (from Mataro) goes out fishing with clients, he comes back with a bucket full of mackerel and horse-mackerel.
Santiago and Alex produce quite some fish trolling with life bait. 2 weeks ago, e.g. they had a great 6 kg bluefish with our french clients.
In Valencia, José and his team are enjoying the calm days with bottom fishing. 10 days ago they went bottom fishing in 250m to 400m deap water and caught a lot of black spot sea bream (up to 2kg) and other bottom fish. Tuna fishing was harder. The tuna are there, but when the sea is flat with no wind at all, it's very unlikely tuna will bite. José told us today that now a lot of fish has come to the area in front of Denia and Javea: bluefin tuna, albacore and little tunny.
In Murcia, our people are also making good results with bottom fishing.
Oscar and José, our expert from Puerto Banus are having fun bottom fishing with life bait. Every week they bring in a nice Sama (Pink Dentex) or a Dentex (apart from all the other bottom fish like black spot sea bream, red scorpion fish, snapper, etc).
Capt. Miguel is also concentrating on and waiting for the tuna and albacore to arrive.
The tuna (bluefin tuna, albacore, little tunny, and others) were very close to the shore during april and beginning of may. Now, they seem to have moved off-shore. We heard that people caught bluefin tuna while deap sea fishing off the coast of Vilanova i la Geltru. In Alicante, lots of tuna have been spotted between Denia and Ibiza in 1000 meters deep waters. Well, June, July and August are high season for deep sea fishing and off shore trolling... we'll inform you soon about all the catches and big monsters!
