24°C and Good Fishing in Malaga
Bluefin Tuna in February?
Nouvelles en relation
Last week, on thursday, the Mediterranean Sea offered and excellent day for fishing in Puerto Banus, Marbella, Malaga. The sea was as flat as a plate, not one cloud and we had 24°C.
Early in the morning, the fishing charter LUNA first headed a few miles off Puerto Banus to catch some life bait. In less than 20 minutes, they had enough mackerel and horse mackerel in the life-well to chase the Dentex and the Pink Dentex; species that are arriving to the Costa Del Sol this time of the year.
At 10:30h, they had already landed a nice Dentex of about 5kg.
A few minutes later, the captain and the whole crew were surprised by enormous blue fin tuna jumping around the boat. Oscar, the captain thinks they were fish from around 80kg - 120 kg. One of them attacked one of the mackerels they were fishing with. In less than 30 seconds, this monster emptied the 50lb tiagra reel and disappeared with all the line.
They couldn't believe their eyes... Bluefin Tuna in February?! Capt. Oscar decided to start fishing with 130lb tackle, but by then it was too late.
They caught several, black spot sea bream, red scorpion fish, scorpion fish, pargo and this nice dentex. Not bad for a half day fishing trip...
